What is Precious Metal Clay (PMC)?
Precious Metal Clay (commonly known as PMC) was developed in the early 1990's by Mitsubishi Material Corporation of Japan. It is composed of micron sized particles of precious metal, a non-toxic organic binder and water and is available in fine silver (.999) and 24K gold. Its clay-like qualities allow artists to manipulate and shape it using basic, uncomplicated tools. The dried clay art piece is transformed by firing it in a small tabletop kiln, to burn off the blinder and fuse the metal particles together, revealing a pure precious metal object.
