Chinese Knots

Chinese Knot has been around for centuries, embodies the Chinese intelligence and creativity in their rich history and culture. With simply a string with beads, one can display marvelous ways of decoration and style. These modules seek to illustrate how the Chinese knots serve both functional and aesthetical values in a jewelry piece. 

You will learn to:

• read the Chinese Knot drawings and perform the steps
• coordinate various colors and position them either increasing/decreasing intensity, complementary/contrast tones
• create design using different shapes and sizes of beads and various methods of weaving.
• finish the jewelry using correct methods that increase its durability and ensure it wearable.

Duration:  10 hours (2.5 hr per session)

Lesson 1: The Circus Item: Earring Skill Level: Basic I (Fresh Beginner, No experience needed) Description: Flat Knot, Snake Knot, Double Coin Knot and Sparrow Knot
Lesson 2: Blossom Item: Necklace Skill Level: Basic II (Need to go through Basic I) Description: Button Style Knot, Button Knot and Pipa Knot.
Lesson 3: Mystical Item: Earrings Skill Level: Basic III (Need to go through Basic II) Description: Mystic Knot, United Knot and Monk’s Sack Knot.

Lesson 4 :Dance of the Orient Item: Necklace with adjustable length Skill Level: Basic IV ((Need to go through Basic III) Description: Application of what you have learnt in the first three lessons
